I’m getting knots in my fingers to sort out the last wordpress pages.
There are two things hat I need help with:
- I’ve started a chat with the wordpress “happiness engineers”. No happiness. They haven’t answered. But the chat left a speech bubble at the bottom right corner, blocking various functions (like “create gallery” etc.). I’ve asked them to remove it but – you guessed it – no answer there either. Has anybody an idea how to remove this highly annoying and hindering button?
- When I go the dashboard there are 2 viewing possibilities: default and classic view. I always had “default view” and I want it permanently. Now, I always have to chose it specifically but “classic” is the ACTUAL default. Annoying. Particularly annoying in the media library where I can’t change to “default view” anymore (which may be by design but if it’s not I like to change it).
Any ideas will be very much appreciated.

Oh Elke, despite griping about WP on a regular basis, these problems are unfamiliar to me. I do nevertheless find the Happiness Engineers a helpful bunch, so I hope they’ve replied by now.

No, they haven’t. 3 days and counting. And as I wrote: by now I’m just fed up and I would like to get rid of that stupid speech bubble on the right. I suppose it goes away if I tell them they’ve helped me. But if they don’t answer I can’t tell them. And my gripes are fuelled by the fact that this wouldn’t be the first major website that I see going down in flames because some … think they know how to improve things.

With the button on the upper right corner (a chat window opens on the right panel). It says: … usually within 24 hours …

I didn’t even know you could do that. I message them and the discussion takes place via email.. Yell if you can’t find the place to do that from. I can’t remember off-hand, but can be forced to remember if necessary!

The don’t like me. Cause they didn’t answer my e.mail either. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt cause I am going out anyway – maybe it has to do with the worldwide computer glitch.

Oh great! Now I saw that there was an answer (little red 1 in the blue speech bubble) and when I clicked on it it disappeared. Yes, it is what I wanted. But was it an important answer? – At this stage I’m sure they are toying with me and having a wonderful time!!

Sounds like our neighbour’s cat who was doing similar things with a (very dead) vole the other day. And doubtless you know about that sort of thing too!
