Sounds great! But it’s not something I make at home. Frying odours linger in the apartment for days. These particular ones were really, really good: we had them on the side of the road in Belgium. They really know how to make chips there (and are still mad why they are called FRENCH fries). But sweet potato chips are getting more popular in Germany and I really like them.
BTW: Do you know how to drive a Belgian crazy? (it’s an old joke, from the neighbours of Belgium – we love them really, except when they drive cars on our roads).
(Because of their connections with chips, Belgians are said to love all things angular. They are also considered not too bright, a notion which comes from the French I think). Anyway, this by explanation.
You can drive a Belgian crazy by putting him in a round room and telling him that there is a potato chip hidden in a corner.
— Baaaad. I know. Our fear of Belgians on our roads is a bit more founded in reality. They introduced driving permits connected to a test only fairly recently, late 70s if I remember correctly. So they were driving very erratically (and dangerously).
Thanks, Susu. It’s our town in the foreground with church spire and castle tower and the view stretches to the Mannheim tv tower. On clear days one can see to the hills on the other side of the Rhine.
Ah, french fries, now I’m starting to feel like it, but I have to settle for something else that can be found in the cupboard. Great combination.

I roast them in the oven. Sweet potato with paprika. I don’t fry very much at all, if I do it’s shallow fry like French Toast 😁

Yes, that’s what I do. But the Belgian French FRIES where really good (besides, if you fry at home it’s such a waste of oil).

They shall never be French fries in my home, Belgian or Australian. I see French fries as skinny wastes of potato.
A chip has to be chunky, crisp on the outside and soft in the middle.
Some oils can be reused a number of times

How about put them in a room full of shovels and ask them to take their pick?
