The Seven Swabians

The Seven Swabians is a tale found in the collection of fairytales by the Brothers Grimm. Although grouped with fairytales, it is rather a droll story about seven not very bright, not very brave Swabians and their adventures – like fighting a hare which they mistake for a monster.

In Bad Wildbad House Swabia features a mural around some small panelled windows.

    1. It was probably more fun to scare the youngsters (not children, the youngsters in the spinning rooms) than fill their heads with romantic or other weird notions. This particular tale is a fun story for laughs, though (even the rabbit gets away laughing at the men). Fun Fact: There is a third Grimm – though not related – who was also a collector of tales, an author, and a philologist. Like the Grimm Brothers he contributed to the same collections of tales of famous German romantics. He lived and taught here in my hometown, and served as mayor.

      1. He wasn’t related, only shared the name and the same interests an apparently, the same friends. Mostly only people in our town know about him nowadays.
PS: Grimm is not a totally unusual name in German but also not that common.
