In Freudenstadt I saw this … let’s call it pseudo bay window, or possibly fake. I guess on the inside it has a bigger window sill and that’s it. On the outside it accentuates the shingled housefront.
I rummaged through my archive and I found a couple of windows with a pseudo bay aspect.
This example is from Schweinfurt.
And this window with a small slate roof is from Worms.

I think windows that stick out a little bit all the way around are called oriel windows – bay windows go right down to the ground. I’d love a little reading nook with a deep oriel window creating a window seat, that would be great! 🙂

Thanks for that explanation. I’ve always wondered what the difference between an oriel window and a bay window was.

Beautiful windows. I believe they are real and have a bench ledge inside to watch the people and the street below. Great photos.

I always wished I had a bay window in my house, so I would gladly have any of these. Fake or fancy? Doesn’t matter to me!

They are nice windows either way. I like Ruths explanation

I do, too.

Very nice, Elke 🙂. As Shakespeare would say “what’s in a name?”..a window that connects the inside with the outside is always welcome.
Thanks for sharing with Monday Window!
