It’s an Elwetritsch. From the Elwetritsche fountain in Neustadt. Elwetritsche are similar to Jabberwhockies, albeit older and part of the Palatinate mythology. But this particular one seems to have a long back = more space to be in pain.
Thanks. I had the topic “lucky charms” and their opposites in class today. Of course, I am not superstititious and even more of course: I do not believe that black cats bring bad luck. I showed the class my “Henry is our cat” blog and they all looked at me very gravely … and pointed to my back. Poor Henry – now I blame him.
