Both are examples of Aachen, the city where Charlemagne is buried and where for about half a millenia the German kings where crowned. It took me ages that Aachen is the city meant when the French talk of “Aix-la-Chapelle”. The narrow buildings are near the famous Aachen cathedral, the centre of town where space was always at a premium. The wide building is the town’s theatre built in the classicist style.

Thanks for adding the information. I love those narrow buildings!

The narrow building is so pretty. Is it apartments?

It looks like it, judging by the curtains. Except the first floor of course, that’s a shop, something like a interior decorating shop or the like.
