Vision

I had always been snapping pics, mainly of our children but also other things that wondered into the focus of my lens. I had a fairly good mirror reflex camera then but little possibilty and less time to get more involved with photography. There were a few quite good pics but they were a combination of intuition and luck. Then I got my first bridge camera and I could experiment with the advantage of seeing results immediately, trying out different options and being able to rectify mistakes.

This dandelion is one photo which made me realise that photography would open new ways of seeing to me. I had never realised before that dandelions had those little curlicues (biloped stigma bearing pollen) and suddenly they were visually jumping out at me. It was the beginning of a road to discovery through photography.

  1. So very true Elke – photography does open our eyes to the world around us. I remember someone once told me they were amazed at how I noticed things. I responded that it was directly related to photography. A beautiful and meaningful response to the challenge.
