This is castle ruin Burg Hornberg above the town of Neckarzimmern. In Germany it is mostly famous for being the home of Götz von Berlichingen, the title hero of Goethe’s play. Not many people know the play but they know the name and his famous quote: “but as for him, he may lick my arse!” (“Sag ihm, er soll mich im Arsche lecken.”) – directed at the Emperor when asked to surrender. So much so that a relatively polite way to tell somebody to go xxx yourself is just to reference Götz von Berlichingen.

It’s a hotel and restaurant today and I suspect that the window seats offer a wonderful view of the Neckar valley below.
