It’s those specially hard baked bricks, houses built with them do not need white washing or plastering.

All the bricks in Australia are baked in ovens. I haven’t heard the word clinker being used in years

I am not a builder but clinker bricks are baked a bit differently, a bit harder, or so I’m told.

Not many Clinker bricks are made in Australia any more. They are expensive. I wondered about the name. it’s the sound they make when hit. I remember hearing sound that as a kid. Yes they are baked at a high temperature making them harder

Thanks. I don’t think many are manufactured in Germany anymore either. The look is not fashionable anymore and for all their good qualities I think energy conservation is a different standard now.
