The Not-So-Great Wave off Baia Verde

I’ve always admired Cee’s badge for her Black and White Challenge (CBWC) which was the photo of a wave. So I took a lot (and I mean A LOT) of pictures or waves during our holiday. The beach we spend our week in Sardinia (Baia Verde, near Valledoria) has quite large waves, certainly compared to the places in the mediterranean where we were before. So here is my treatment of the waves hitting the rocks close to the shore.

The original

Here I kept the focus in the middle of the spray but the rest of the photo is slightly blurred.

This is a filter from photoscape called “watercolour pencil”. It is possible to adjust the intensity of the filter and this is the maximum application.

How could I not use this artistic filter (from Lunapic.com, The Great Wave of Kanagawa by Hokusai) in a series on waves. A copy of Hokusai’s woodblock print was in my 5th or 6th year German reading book, illustrating the story of a family fleeing a tsunami in Japan. I don’t know what the left a great impression on me, the story or the picture.
