A Fun Lunchtime Break

The river Isar flows through the middle of Munich. At one stage it’s divided into the main river and a smaller branch called Eisbach (ice brook) and just before the bridge which leads the Prinzregentenstraße over it one can see a crowd gathering most lunchtimes (and afternoons, I guess).

A standing wave was created inadvertently which is the reason of this attraction. And although the water is usually cold and shallow, the attraction for intrepid and experienced surfers has been there since the early 1970s.
