I passed a suburban lake the other day and was amazed to see such a large fish (at least 50 cm, I would guess) swimming close to the shore in fairly shallow water. I took a picture even though I wasn’t convinced I would be able to see much.



Barely 100 m further along, there was a jetty, a man with a model firefighter boat spewing water, some kids watching his boat, and – lots of fish. Still not convinced that my photos would show anything but a few murky shadows, I nevertheless clicked a few (the beauty of electronic photography, you don’t have to worry about printing costs).
At home, I uploaded the pics to the pc and with just one click I had this:

Oh well done! I tried the same with river trout recently, but without your success.

I credit my camera. And water that was obviously cleaner and clearer than what I though.
