Today’s Monochrome Madness concerns itself with pets. I concentrate myself on the most obvious pets that live in our households, cats, dogs, and birds. But feel free to go beyond that scope (farm animals are coming up in a couple of months). You might include their humans in the photos. Meanwhile I’ll start with the proverbial crazy old cat lady.

It is no secret that I am not a polycatist (or is it called polyfelisit?) but rather a serial cat owner. Our current feline housemate is called Henry and although I seldom post now on his blog he does have one that is dedicated to his early years.
He has been a constant model for my photography but I’ve learned that a black cat is not the easiest of subjects. But I keep trying.

Even with imposters – it’s Henry on left, a black cat called Luise on the right.
Sometimes the watcher changes places and becomes the watchee.
Details can make for interesting photos.

And so we come to dogs. I’ve never had a dog (actually, not quite true, I had two dogs, for two weeks each, which convinced me thoroughly that I should not live with a dog). I like them well enough, I just can’t live with them. I do have canine friends, though.

And I had a bird, two birds, budgies, when I was little. I still like watching birds. But again, not as housemates. Besides, it would be too much like teasing Henry, or worse, laying out bait for him.

Now it’s up to you. Link your post to Leanne’s pets’ post at Monochrome Madness. I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

You’ve covered nearly all bases here. But I knew Henry would be star of the show! Mine will appear tomorrow, and feature … only dogs. We’re a pet-free zone in this house, and they were what came to hand.

I’ve had dogs. And dogs and cats at the same time, which was fun. And then only cats. Cats are so much easier, I think. Henry! You are one handsome little guy!

A wonderful array of pets Elke. The cat peeking over the fence made me smile but not as much as our Henry does 😺

It’s actually not a fence but a flower box which has been left empty, I suspect for his/her comfort. 😸

It’s really a potted cat (in a flowerbox in front of a window). I will look at your post later this evening, after dinner. Looking forward to it.

I had my husband promise that if I ever came with another dog he is to hit me over the head with a rolling pin. Hard!
