Nice church the St Peter and Paul Church in Hochheim it is, though. Apparently, she came for the wine. And it’s not as bad as the story suggests – the English word “hock” for a cheap white wine apparently stems from that visit.

Another interesting, if useless fact!

Wine or not, I think she should have come for the church, it’s lovely.

There was a Hock variety of wine that was produced in Western Australia that I used to drink years ago that was quite good

The dictionaries I consulted all said “Rhine wine” or “white Rhine wine” without any value judgement but I learned the word as “cheap wine”. I admit I was wrong. Glas you liked yours (although it doesn’t seem to have come from the Rhine river area).

The name was from the vine variety I think. It was a small vineyard
