You know we Germans put up our Christmas tree only on the 24th. In olden times the children weren’t allowed in the parlour. Dad put up the tree and decorated it and we weren’t allowed to see it. We had dinner in the kitchen and only when we heard the bell on the tree (rung by Christchild after bringing the presents) were we allowed in and see the tree and the presents. These days with open plan apartments it’s difficult to do it like that but we still put up the tree on the 24th. Last year I finally relented and bought an artificial one. And today at around 2pm I went into the cellar to bring it up (the shops close at 2pm on Christmas Eve) and I COULDN’T FIND IT. We looked for a whole hour for the bl** thing. I was totally stressed. Too late to buy another one, even a yucky small ugly runt. We finally found it, though, in the corner of a cupboard. But that was enough stress to last me for a while.
Well done!

Thank you. I needed a bit of tweaking but in the end it worked.

Brilliant, Elke. As irreverent as I hoped you’d be – and all 12 too! Perfect. Here’s mine …. https://margaret21.com/2025/12/23/the-twelve-days-of-christmas/

A South African cuppa, though, i.e. rooibos tea.

Never learnt to like that. Mind you, I’m not good at any tea.

With me, it comes and goes. Times that I really love it and times I detest it.

Thanks, Brian. Had some fumbling to get the berets and cigies on the French hen but I had fun.
