A confined area

My childhood was spent pretty much within the triangle of three different old medieval towers, called “Blauer Hut” (blue hat due to its original slate roof, now long gone), “Roter Turm” (red tower, so called because of the reddish sandstone used) and “Hexenturm” (witches’ tower – nobody knows why because it has never been used as a prison for witches or anybody else). There used to be a fourth tower, “Müllheimer Tor” (the gate facing the suburb, then probably village, called “Müll” or “Müllheim”) but it had to make space for increased traffic and larger vehicles – in 1882.

Although the whole old part of town is little more than an area of 2 km² I could not get a photo with all three towers showing. The reason is mainly with the smallest one which is very close to the slope of the hill and cannot seen from anywhere where the other two can be seen.

Today I live a mere 2 1/2 km away from the old part of town, ten minutes by bicycle, 5 by car (plus 20 to find a parking space), 30 minutes walking.
