Sports Kilts

I took Aino by her word when she said “tartan” as the theme for today’s colour collage. Well, it’s colourful and it’s a collage. These are sports’ kilts worn by runners. They are lighter and use less fabrics than traditional kilts. The tartans are all registered with the Scottish Register of Tartans which means they have a number and a very detailed descriptions of the colours and distribution of threads. The main tartan in the middle of my collage is the Hash House Harriers Trail Tartan.

The treads all have meaning:

Green for the nature we run in, sometimes turning darker when it turns muddier, amber for the colour of the Hashers’ favourite drink, chalk in which the trail is marked, and red for the blood that occasionally flows on trail.
