This salad of leaves has invaded our very neglected garden lawn.I was surprised the first year, just some leaves, actually lots of leaves.

Of course, after a while they reveal what they are, i.e. the common chicory known as blue daisy, blue dandelion, and not surprisingly: blue weed – because it is invasive. The German common name tells us their main occopuation: waiting by the roadside (Wegwarte).
They always look lovely, close-up or as blue dots from afar. They are also well beloved by insects of all kind.

Click on the individual photos (particularly the one with the lightest flower) to see the curlicues of the stamen.

I love those flowers (even if they look like salad attacking my lawn).
