Much as I dislike being around people pipe smoking (the stink!), some pipes are well worth their five minutes of fame. And that advert! What a classic!

I used to smoke pipe (I still think it smells better than disdainful cigarettes) when I started to go to university. For about a month. Felt very grown up and sophisticated. Then I caught a cold. I stopped. When I was over the cold and started again everything in my body rebelled. And I never took up smoking ever again.

Lucky you! Lucky us! In my final year at university, I was obliged to share a seminar room with 5 pipesmokers, one if whom was our lecturer. I’ve never really recovered.
