No fixed theme for Monochrome Madness this week.

Helmeted guinea fowl seem predestined for monochrome treatment, their red dewlaps and a bit of powder blue around the head notwithstanding. Artists have long recognised this.

Guinea fowls look nothing but distinctive – from the front, from the back, and in profile.

They are a very strange prehistoric looking bird

They look like they’re related to vultures. I think that the supporting cast of Mad Max was modelled after them to some extent. But I like their feathers.

Only they have a small head compared to the rest of their bodies. The feathers are quite good

I love these birds, and they look so good in monochrome Elke.

Thanks, Leanne. I’ve always liked them. And their feathers make great earrings.

Well captured, Elke! I don’t think I’ve seen them in real so far🤔.

I’ve seen quite a view when we lived in South Africa and went to the Kruger Park, but around here I’ve seen a few in most bird parks.
