The monument to Ludewig I, Grand Duke of Hesse-Darmstadt, stands in the centre of the city of Darmstadt on a 30 metre column. The locals call him not “Langer Ludwig” as is so often quoted but “Langer Lui”,

I’ve been to Darmstadt a few times but I can’t recall Langer Lui..need to look at my archives or make another trip 😅.

It’s at the Luisenplatz (named after Ludwig’s wife). The hub of Darmstadt’s public transport system. A large shopping centre (middle of the shopping area). You have to look up ⬆
