The narrower the laneways

the more people you can fit in!

That’ll be the motto of my hometown in about a month’s time.

    1. No, not just any old date. On the second weekend in August our hometown celebrates Kerwe (kermis), originally connected to the patron saint of the main church. Every town and village celebrates on a different weekend around here, ours is one of the largest with thousands of visitors expected. One reason for the popularity is that is not just on one square (with all the fair attractions, mostly for youngsters and children) but in the old part of the town. Everybody can open a pub or restaurant for the four days of the long weekend, so there is something for everybody, traiditional, more modern, whatever (talking of music as well as of drinks and food). It’s four days of revellery and the whole time is in a buzz during these days.
