Brown – that is a hard one. As in the quote of the prompt – it’s never absent. Look around and you’ll find something brown. So the challenge is what to exclude rather than what to show.
My first thought when it comes to brown is wood. Any shade of brown can be found in wood, I think.

But as with most colours, they show off better when in contrast to another colour. Half-timbered houses have this contrast built in, the whitewash sets the browns off so beautifully.


This brown cow would get lost in the grass if it weren’t for its white mate.

But different shades of brown can work.

Many shades in one bird, with a bit of grey and green thrown in.

Stark contrast, again in one bird, or rather two birds.

And I leave it with another bird, representing all things rust.
