A whole town in celebration mode

A very topical prompt for me this week as our town’s festival will happen next week, from Friday to Monday we will all be in a different state of mind.

At the moment it still looks a bit bare but many helpers are already busy setting up, cleaning, and decorating..

And by next week it will look festive and celebratory.

The old part of town will be decked out in blue and white bunting and colourful lights and if the weather god plays along the streets will be filled with locals and visitors to join in.

For the kids there are the usual fairground rides, traditional and modern.

And there are traditional costumes involved, there will be music, and even some dancing

Many courtyards will have been turned into temporary pubs with music, drink and food.

And a good time will be had by all!

    1. Please do. If it is going to be as hot as it has been the crowds might make it hotter but one can always retreat to the Schlosspark. On Friday afternoon, the Kerwe opens at 4pm. The market place will be packed and there will be opening speeches by actual offiials, and Kerwe officials. There will be music and dancing and visiting Kerwefigures from other towns and villages. I will be in the Schlosspark, though, where these officials will go and be served traditional cake and wine on one long table. This used to happen in the old part of town but the new technical mayor is very much into liability worries and he has decided it is too narrow there. Monday is really for the locals and not as packed and it’ll go until midnight (or longer, but no more loud music in the streets).
