Schloss Auerbach in the foreground is only 14 km in a direct linear distance to the atomic power station Biblis. That’s about 25km from where I live.
In the other direction there is the atomic power station Philippsburg, that’s 35 km away from (direct line).

To me that was a constant anxiety in the back of my mind. I demonstrated against Biblis as a teenager when Biblis was built and after the Fukushima disaster 2011.Considering the radius of contamination after a possible worst-case scenario my hometown would be uninhabitable from two directions.
Biblis (by then 30 years old) stopped was taken off the grid in 2011 and has been in a process of being dismanted ever since. Philippsburg was stopped in 2019.

Even the act of dismantling must bring its own anxieties …

Yes. it does. The towers of Biblis are down by now. So that is at least something.

We had one almost on the doorstep in my old home town, Hartlepool, and now they’re considering a second. We’re obviously expendable in the north east xx
