When we sang this Beatles’ song 64 seemed so very far away. Well, now I’m looking at this number from the other side, and it didn’t take all that long. I was tempted to just put up a recent selfie and be done with it. However, I don’t really do selfies …
So instead here is Diana or Artemis, goddess of hunt, as she stood in the grounds of our local castle. I’m happy to say she has since been restored to her former beauty. I wish I could do the same, just a bit of plaster applied with a spatula, and hey presto!
Getting older doesn’t necessarily mean becoming decrepit, it might just be to become an elder states person, at the height of wisdom and receiving respect. But once one is over the hill, signs of age may show.
And it can get worse. NB: Although we thought this dog was gone because he didn’t move, he didn’t twitch, with people stepping around him … you have to be really old to not care and just relax.
Inanimate objects show signs of age as well, of course. Is this house on its way to becoming a condemned ruin after years of service or is it just in need of some tlc to be restored?
This chairlift near Edenkoben in the Palatinate has been the poster child for “getting on in years” for years. This kind of lift was old-fashioned when I started skiing in the mid-sixties but this one (not for skiers but for hikers) is still going strong. So far it has not broken down and nobody was seriously hurt using it. But it might be nearing the end of its life.
Seen in the south of France on a wall that has seen better days. Maybe a paper stuck on might keep the plaster and paint together even? But please, don’ stick anything over my post …
Now it’s over to you. Show us whatever as long as it is not new. At its prime or past its prime. As long as it illustrates our theme and is in monochrome, we’d love to see it!

When I turned 64, not that long ago, I told everyone it was my Beatles birthday. Very few people got the reference, and then I sung it to them. lol

We have a fairly well-known ditty in German, “Mit 66 Jahren fängt das Leben an” (Life starts at 66). My sister gave me a cup with those words on it on my 66th birthday. I still prefer the Beatles’ song.

A great theme for a monochrome challenge Elke 🙂 I enjoyed all your examples but especially the first and last! I was glad to read that the dog was OK, just resting.
