What does an exclipse look from a spacecraft close to another planet, I wonder.

In any case, the onlookers were very happy that it all ended well. I realised that we came woefully unprepared – no chairs, no bubbly, no finger foods …
but at least we brought special glasses which we all used, except for the Mouse and Cookie Monster … In any case, I’m going to keep the glasses for the next total eclipse in Germany. There will be a few partial eclipses in the meantime but I’m saving them for the next big one, in 2081. This one happened on 12 August 2026.

And I was in Spain, where it was REALLY supposed to happen. Never saw a thing. Just a faintly darkened sky. The sun tucked itself behind the hills.

Where I live, the solar eclipse didn’t happen at all. However, the lunar eclipse happened a long time ago.

I remember the 1999 eclipse. It was total about 150km from where I was but I couldn’t go because my mum was ill at the time and I had to stay with her. All the people that travelled south were disappointed because it wa cloudy. And my mum and I just had a very eery 98% eery atmosphere.

That was really disappointing.

Great photos – we watched it too but didn’t get such good shots the thing that impressed me the most was the atmosphere it created a little eerie- the birds certainly felt it !
