Thanks for the title to Cowboy Junkies and their song by Michael Edward Timmins.

White sails can be important! I’m just reading old Greek myths again. Theseus neglectedto raise a white sail and so his father Aegeus. who awaited his return, thought he was dead and he threw himself from a high rock into the sea, henceforth known as the Aegean. All but for a white sail. Nobody knew how to use a washing machine or what?!

I used to love the Greek myths. Time for me to re-read them too perhaps.

That’s what I thought and our Greek holiday seemed to be the perfect starting point. I guess I’m thinking differently to when I was a teenager (d’uh!) but those maskuline heroes and their flawed characters (in very typical male ways) and hybris is starting to p… me off. Also, I was listening to a podcast (recommended by a fellow blogger) about Odysseus and they all but destroyed my childhood hero. So maybe I should have left my memories alone.

Oh, fair point. I haven’t started yet, so maybe now … I won’t.

I’ve listend to Stephen Fry narrating his own book on the early myths. That was fun! So, maybe, I’ll give his next three in the series a try.
