The Stephanskirche in Mainz has 9 large panels of blue windows by Marc Chagall. Works of art, symbols of reconciliation between Judaism and Christendom, they show wonderful hues of blue. Apparently they also show biblical scenes but for the life of me – I can’t see them.

Well photographed. A nice set of windows. Thank you for sharing to Monday Window.

I like them, too. I just didn’t see anything tangible. (not that I need that)

Chagall seems to have stained glass windows in churches all over Europe, which quite surprises me.

And apparently he never was in Mainz. Designed it from afar and had his assistant make them and install them.

Ditto in other examples. I’ll have to look him up soon and find out all about it.

The blues that Chargall used are so wonderful in stained glass as well as his art

Definitely.
I’ve deleted the following part because I wanted to post it under your recipe only to discover that comments there are closed) So I’m adding it again here:
And on a different subject: I asked you for your pumpkin recipe because I had noted it in my calender to ask you in autumn. I just now wanted to save it in my recipe folder. Turns out, I had already asked you and I had already saved it. But now there are pumpkins. Gonna try it with homemade ricotta! (I will let you know how it turns out). Small question: What kind of olives are you using?

Black Kalamata olives. Go the memory. I hope you enjoy it

Tomorrow … I’m still training on the ricotta.

Good luck with the cheese making too Elke. I have never attempted to make ricotta

Apparently it’s real easy. I saw an episode of Master Chef Canada (a lot less screaming than the US version) and they had to make ricotta filled ravioli and gnudi (like gnocchi but not from potatoes but from ricotta) from scratch in less than an hour. So …

The Australian version has taken to screaming now. I haven’t watched it since the first couple of episodes as it became too staged and scripted

My ricotta didn’t work in 1/2 hour. I didn’t even work in 3 hours. I left it overnight and until I came home from school and … success! I have ricotta. It’s ricotta. Fairly bland ricotta. I will try again. Possibly with milk from a farmer rather than that “longer shelflife” stuff we get nowaday (not quite UHT but not fresh either). More salt. More acid (vinegar rather than lemon because I’ve now learned lemon’s are sweet or at least, not sour enough). – I did make your roasted pumpkin (with shop bought ricotta). Mhmm… possibly I will take mozzarella next time? It is VERY filling and I’m not quite sure about the olives in the mixture. Also, I have definite garlic breath today. And last modification (sorry!) I’m might like it better with polenta rather than pasta . I think I’ve got some experimenting to do. The pumpkin itself was delicious!

One time, long ago, I was searching for them but I guess I didn’t manage I think. I should visit Mainz again 🙂.

For orientation: In the centre of town street signs (in old German writing, aka Fraktur) are either red or blue. Blue signs means the street runs parallel to the river, red directly towards or away from the river. If the signs are white you are not in the centre anymore.

Thank you, Elke. I’ll remember that for the next time, before looking up at google maps 😀

We only learned that on our recent visit (when we were almost gone…).
