Halloweeny ending

I haven’t been as diligent with the Tourmaline’s October Challenge as I wanted to be but, you know, life … But I had to post a final picture not just to end this challenge but to remember her Halloween Challenges of Octobers past. This particular Halloween photo was taken last week when I came across a house with a front yard overflowing with Halloween decorations (not all that common in Germany). In a town called Seligenstadt of all things (a possible translations might be “town of the blessed ones” or “Beatified Town). AI on my phone did the rest.

Paternalistic or patriarchal?

German Father’s Day is on a different level. It involves men (particularly young men who are not even fathers yet) going out into the woods dragging a handcart stacked with beers behind them and getting wasted.

This sign promises thick pea soup (probably with sausages in it), cooked in a field kitchen. Beer isn’t even mentioned, it’s a given.
