befriending Thursday’s Special: Pick a Word – December
I’ve been sick for well over a week and now that I’m better two of the grandkids are here visiting, so I am sending all of you my best wishes for the coming celebrations and the coming new year. Short and sweet.
The photo is from 1999 and was posted in a private facebook group, much to our surprise. Santa Claus came to the desert near Jubail in Saudi Arabia. I remember that there were updates about the approach of the sleigh with the reindeers, called down from the surrounding dunes at half hourly intervals.
Full of atmosphere, albeit unusual to us at the time.
Our sons are right next to Santa and just a face near the right border.
Have a wonderful time and watch out for each other.
That’s Fritz. I was warned to stay well away from him. He is a mean, old farmyard tomcat. But I still think he’s beautiful.

That’s Louis and Charlie, both are natives of Saudi Arabia who have settled in Northwestern England.
I don’t know this kittie’s name, it was a chance encounter while I was out and about.
She’s just called Klara although I think she should be named something like Lady Klarabelle Chasseuse de Souris von Maushofen.
And the best comes at the end, of course. Henry – his mind and his eyes fixed on a singular purpose.

And another one from my painted pebble collection:
A wish I can wholeheartedly subscribe to – may we all stay safe and come out safe and sound at the other end.

Cats are definitely the champions when it comes to relaxation. Anywhere, anytime …
I’ve shared a photo of this “potted cat” before. It had settled down in this old stone flower pot, next to the walk way on a busy street, completely relaxed and not bothered about the surrounding commotion.
Louis, on the other hand, had a whole living room to himself where he felt so secure that he could completely relax, without shame or decency:
