



Wool, of course, is Wolle in German. Which, considering my surname, leaves me spoilt for choice. Here is wool basket and a wool snuggery. “Wool chamber” and “wool parlour” didn’t sound good so I turned to a dictionary for inspiration – I think that our living room will be called “snuggery” from now on.
This is the war grave memorial in Modautal. There are other cemeteries in Europe with graves from soldiers and civilians of many nations of the two world wars in the 20th century to remember these victims. They should be memorials not so much of “lest we forget” but rather of “never again”. Sadly, it hasn’t worked.
The mural on this building in Mannheim is called “Nations in Peace – Colourful Cultures”. It has been designed with students from two schools under the guidance of the artist Bahaiden.
This painted pebble has the same message – albeit on a much smaller scale.
Both are necessary.

The only definition of accumulator I could find that fitted this photo was: “An accumulator is an energy storage device: a device which accepts energy, stores energy, and releases energy as needed.” If that is a traditional, if roundabout way to describe a steaming teapot, let me know please.
This particular pot was seen on Lindisfarne or Holy Island off the north English coast.
