  1. I’m a fan of these kinds of bears but I’m terrified of the real ones. We had a family of bears cross over on the ice one spring to where our cottage is. For two years I didn’t go for walks in the woods because I was too afraid of encountering one.

    1. I can totally understand that. We had a couple of bears in Germany a few years back. They came over the border from the Czech Republic. And were labelled “problem bears” and ultimately, shot, I think.

      1. Thanks for understanding. Too bad they had to be shot but sometimes there are no other alternatives. I just found out that we have something called super pigs in the Prairies that are a huge problem. They are crossing over to the U.S. and creating a lot of damage.

      2. The first “problem bear” (labelled as such by the then prime minister of Bavaria, Edmund Stoiber, and this has since become a familiar quotation) was the first bear in Germany in almost 200 year. He entered into a inhabited area, killing livestock and threatening people. At the time, all the specialists agreed that he had to go. Only afterwards did animal rights organisations complain.
