Three years ago playgrounds were closed because of the “curséd Covid”. The town admin put up a flimsy red and white tape and a notice. It wasn’t impregnable yet it was.

It was. Our grandson was 9. Now he is 12 and too old for these “baby playgrounds” (or so he thinks).

I remember the day when my son – also about 9 at the time, was excited to be going to the playground, and then realised, when he arrived, he no longer wanted to be there. A rite of passage.
