Gem, the Starfish

was the first part I played on stage in English. Part of a team, Gem and Elli (the Eel), hairdressers of distinction. We were vital to the efforts of the three see queens, Queen of Mother of Pearl, Queen of Sea Weed and I forgot the other one, to outdo each other in a beauty contest. It was a children’s play called Miranda and the Magic Sponge and I looked like Dolly Parton on crack (with a blond wig, of course). I’ve been rummaging for over an hour to find the pictures of that production and of me in it and I can’t find it so here is a very bad substitute of a star fish.

    1. I remember now: Queen of Coral was the third one. There were also sharks in the production. Hammerhead Herbert is the best, Hammerhead Herbert knows no rest. — It was fun and the costumes were great. It wasn’t a good play at all.

      1. I don’t watch Eurovision (used to watch occasionally when it was still Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson) – I’m not into “fremdschämen” – that’s being ashamed while watching or hearing something cringeworthy. – Even work wouldn’t have rescued that dud of a play (yet, it was published and still is available, I just found out, {shudder}).
