I wanted “some light reading” in French for the holidays in France. I enjoyed browsing the library in Bourg-en-Bresse and I particularly enjoyed the personal notes pinned on the books by the staff. I ended up with a book, actually two books, and I managed to do some reading while in France.
When I read in English or German, I just read. When I read in French, I translate in my head. Not quite-so-light.

Well done you. I’m rather lazy about reading-allegedly-for-pleasure in other languages.Have you tried any Faiza Guėne? Very accessible writer whose subjects are often the children of first generation immigrants from former French territories. Quite light though!

No, I haven’t heard of Faiza Guéne. I’ll have a look (once I’m recovered from this reading). The subject sounds interesting. When I read in French I like to listen to the audio book at the same time so I’ll see whether I like the voice.

That sounds like a plan. Anyway, the first one of hers I read was HER first one – Kif Kif Demain – recommended.

That is not available as an audio book. Which is a disappointment because I already love the title.
