Wasps have gotten a bad rap so I thought I start off showing that they can be beautiful.

Still beautiful but they seldom come on their own which makes them at least a nuisance (even if they are not aggressive).

Now wasps and food – it’s changing into being a menace.
Or a downright danger.
But I couldn’t leave without showing this deserted hornets nest. Hornets are wasps, just very big ones.

And yes, this is a hornet. Without a scale it’s difficult to tell but this bad girl was close to five centimeters, i.e. scary.

Hornets ARE scary. We had an infestation in the house once. Aaaaagh.

I find them fascinating. FROM A DISTANCE. NOT IN THE HOUSE!

I just now realised: You found emojis! For a while now, I think. But I remember that you had problems with them a while ago. Well done 👍🏽

Thanks. Slow and steady, that’s me … but thanks for the lesson.

I’ve never seen a hornet, but have been stung by regular wasps. These are some really good photos. 🙂

Thank you. And I’m sure it was painful.

I don’t if they were wasps or hornets or yellow jackets, but we had a nest of them that they built inside a planter. My wife went to water the plant in that planter because the nest was not visible, and the angry wasps flew out and swarmed her and attacked her. That’s when we learned that unlike bees, which can only sting once because they lose their stingers at the sting site, wasps can sting multiple times. They got her good.

Oooohhh .. that must have been so painful. No wonder you think wasps are thugs.

They are quite beautiful but don’t like being annoyed
