Working together

A German wedding tradition: the couple gets some mock work to do (with a few handicaps thrown in, like the bound up hands, and possibly a blindfold, too) and they have to hit the nails on the head. The effort is real enough – will it foretell how well they will work together in their joint future?

    1. The better known tradition with the same purpose is “Polterabend”. Traditionally that was a party for friends the night before the actual wedding (the wedding feast being mainly for the family) and it’s a rustic party, often a barbeque and sausages are involved. Guests bring some old crockery which is smashed in the driveway or somewhere similar and the clearing of the shards is the first task that the couple has to do together.
