We spend the weekend at a little hotel in the middle of the woods and the rooms were light and modern but the staircase was peppered with old relics, like an old sewing machine, stuffed animals (a woodgrouse, a piglet, a stoart), modern art (quite daring), and several old chairs like this one.
We used to have chairs like that when I was little and I guess many other families had them, too.

We still have one, but with arms, and less ‘sit-up-and-beg’ than that one. I’m quite fond of it, and I don’t think my ‘children’ will chuck it in a skip when the time comes.
