Not everybody can read “Fraktur” (the font). Too easy for you? I added another photo. That’s what the hymnals used to look like. I don’t remember not being able to read this.
Many don’t know it at all. They stopped printing the hymnals in that font. For me it’s just normal, I don’t have to hesitate. We had to go to church and had to read it.
But as other have pointed out, we oldies are a dying breed. Literally (though we may manage a few more years yet – you especially. You’re still working, aren’t you?)
I am. Part time. I started in this line of work as a volunteer and kind of slid into a paid position. I give myself another course (about 18 months) and then I’ll stop. Probably.

Us old-timers don’t have much trouble with that font provided it is large enough for our poor eyesight.

That’s true. Thanks for pointing out my age, Ludwig. 😉

Haha. Sorry, I didn’t think of that, I only had mine in mind.

I CAN decipher it. But it’s hard work. I guess the younger the German, the harder the task these days?

18 months? That’s do-able. But I think you’ll be the sort to enjoy retirement – and be busier than ever!
