One of our supermarkets have new plastic trolleys. There’s two sizes, really big for families and a smaller one for the not so much but too much for a basket.
The trolley retrieval bloke who brings them up from the car park said they are losing them as people are taking them home to use for washing line baskets.

In Germany, most supermarkets work with deposits. But if you need a washing basket I guess one Euro (or one plastic token) is really cheap.

Aldi is the only one here who have a coin deposit/refund on trolleys

That is interesting, here I don’t often see them used, but I know they are used, people leave them around afterwards
