School is starting for many year 1 students in Germany. Some time in the late 18th century people thought the children needed something to sweeten this step towards the seriousness of life. So they gave the children a cone filled with sweets. The custom is still going strong today although these days it’s less sweets and more little gadgets and school suplies.But no kid in Germany starts school without a cone.


And off they go like lambs to the slaughter …
PS: Did you notice the traffic cones in the middle picture? Double whammy.

They do. And they’re very proud of them. And some get custom made ones (like this Spiderman cone because they’re Spidey-Fans).
