Near Erbach in the Odenwald is a ravine, called Brudergrund (literally translated – which one really shouldn’t do – “brother-ravine” or “brother gully”). It’s an open deer park (i.e. openly accessible) with fallow deer and red deer.

Not quite. Grund here is a small valley, narrow, secluded maybe, could be a furrow. It’s an older meaning of “Grund” that has survived mainly in place names.
