Hornbacher Steinhäusel

This melody, as well as the accompanying text, is known by most German children. It’s sung on the day of St Nicolas when children are waiting for dark to fall and St Nicolas coming by and putting little presents in the prepared boots. 

Let us all be cheery and bright 
and look forward to Nicolas' night.  
Merrily, merrily, ding ding dong! 
It's Nicolas' evening before too long.

Two painted pebbles from the pebble chain that made its appearance along the side of the local lake during the big lockdown of 2020. Thanking everybody for being responsible or at least, them that were.

Traffic related thanks: A billboard thanking drivers for adhering to the volunteer speed limit of 30 km/h for the sake of the children living in the neighbourhood. Or just a general thanks from the owner of this white car, either to the other drivers for driving defensively, or possibly a thanks for the powers that provided this car in the first place.

And here are my special thanks to — oh, you know who you are!

The seal who swims (used to swim?) regularly from the sea up the river Wear past the National Glass Centre in Sunderland.

Since the above seal is barely recognisable (yet it was the only one which ever let me photograph it) I thought I better offer a close up of a colourful seal as well:
